Ikig.ai Is a "For Good" Initiative Founded by Dataiku
What Is Ikig.ai?
Ikig.ai is an AI-for-good initiative founded by Dataiku.
The word Ikigai (生き甲斐,) is a Japanese term for « a reason for being, » and it usually Ikigai refers to the source of value in one’s life or the things that make one’s life worthwhile. We found it inspiring to describe our ambition to contribute – in a modest way – to what the world needs.
At Dataiku, we’re extremely lucky to have an incredibly successful company and tons of talented people. So we felt it was time for us to give back to our community and decided that everybody at Dataiku should have the opportunity to work on projects they cherish and where they feel useful. Whether it’s spending time with elderly people, helping fundraise for an NGO, helping distribute food to the homeless, or protecting endangered bird species, we think everybody at Dataiku can have an impact.
Dataiku believes data science and AI should benefit – and not threaten – everyone, and that it should be used to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges. To that end, Dataiku empowers organizations to build AI into their processes in a human-centered way, which means that humans – not machines – are always at the heart of the decision making process. That includes encouraging transparent processes (versus black-box approaches) and implementing features in order to detect and prevent algorithmic bias.
We think that non-profit organizations should be able to embrace the full potential of AI as well with the right software and the right skills, and Ikig.ai is our program to help them in that direction.
